Enya, “The Celts,” Reprise. ** 1/2

The new-age queen makes lush music that’s great background for contemplative moods. She croons ethereally, mostly Gaelic melodies, over dreamy instrumentals. Some of her songs, with their gorgeous melodies, are lovely, but others sail over the top and are just plain corny. This reissue of her first album--from 1987--when her style was less focused and refined, is a mixture of both.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (e x cellent).
