In 1900, Orange County had a population of 19,696. But only Anaheim, Orange and Santa Ana were incorporated.
About 60% of county residents lived on farms, and there were but three automobiles in the entire county. A trip to Los Angeles was typically made by train.
Small crossroads were the sites of facilities offering postal service and selling farm supplies.
