CINCINNATI — A judge has ordered a man to marry the girlfriend he was convicted of punching in the mouth.
Scott Hancock, 25, has nine months to marry Yvonne Sevier, 24, or risk jail under a sentence imposed Thursday by Municipal Judge Albert Mestemaker.
“I happen to believe in traditional American values: Boy meets girl, boy asks girl out, boy and girl go steady, boy and girl get married, and then boy and girl start raising a family,” Mestemaker said.
Hancock pleaded no contest to domestic violence. Mestemaker placed him on probation and also ordered him to seek counseling and get alcohol treatment.
