Judy Garland Home Restored

Judy Garland’s childhood home in Grand Rapids, Minn., has been partially restored and is now open to the public. Garland--whose real name was Frances Gumm--was born to vaudevillians Fred and Ethel Gumm in 1922 and lived in the house until she was 4 1/2, when the family moved to California.

So far, the parlor and dining room, along with the exterior of the 103-year-old house, have been restored. Plans call for the house to be completed by 1996 and an adjacent children’s museum to open in 1998.
