VENTURA : New Homeless Facility to Hold Open House

A nonprofit group that helps low-income Ventura County residents find work and lodging will hold an open house at its new Ventura facility today.
Ventura County Supervisor Susan Lacey; David Roddick, the Commission on Human Concerns’ new board chairman, and longtime homeless advocate Les Goldberg will deliver welcoming remarks at 2 p.m. The center is located at 946 E. Thompson Blvd.
The building was purchased in July by Les Goldberg, the commission’s former board chairman. A team of volunteers, many of them homeless themselves, helped renovate the 1,200-square-foot residence, which will house the commission’s drop-in center for homeless county residents.
Goldberg and others will show visitors through the house, which Rabbi Michael Berk will dedicate to Abraham Goldberg, Les Goldberg’s father, at 3 p.m.
