Nilane A. Lee, president of the North Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees, has resigned, citing serious health problems.
Lee, of Fullerton, was serving as president for the fourth time in her 14 years on the board. But for the past eight years, she has been battling breast cancer.
“It’s gotten a little worse,” Lee said of her condition Tuesday, adding that her doctors told her “to get stress out of my life.”
“Now, I’ll be trying to enjoy life with my family and bring peace and beauty into my life so that I can get well,” said Lee, 59.
Lee, a California probate referee who sold her law practice five years ago, lives with her husband, Bruce, in Fullerton. A former high school math teacher, she was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 1981 and reelected three times.
