Wider Entrance for Carwash OKd

LA PALMA — Saying that the change would improve safety, the City Council voted this week to allow a carwash to have a wider entrance on Walker Street.
The business, under construction at Crescent Avenue and Walker Street, will have a 24-foot entrance, rather than the 16-foot one specified when the project was approved in 1992.
“I agree with the 24-foot-wide entrance from a safety standpoint,” Councilman Kenneth Blake said, citing the large trucks that will make deliveries to the new facility.
The council Tuesday also approved two other changes requested: different landscaping than originally approved and a slightly different parking pattern.
Carwash issues often provoke debate in La Palma, which some critics say has too many such businesses. The latest proposal, however, drew no opposition at a public hearing Tuesday.
