Columbia/HCA Acquires Good Samaritan Hospitals: Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., the biggest for-profit hospital company in the United States, said it completed the acquisition of Good Samaritan Health Systems in San Jose. While Nashville, Tenn.-based Columbia/HCA did not disclose what it paid for Good Samaritan’s four hospitals, clinics and physician groups, the San Francisco chapter of Consumers Union, a watchdog group, said Columbia paid $165 million. Columbia/HCA executives could not be reached for comment. Columbia/HCA shares closed down $1.375 at $52.875.
