Methamphetamine Lab Suspected at Scene of Fire
VENTURA — Police responding to a report of a fire on Callens Road on Sunday found a suspected methamphetamine lab.
The fire began shortly after 1 p.m. at 1660 Callens Road. Emergency crews responding to the scene found burning chemicals. There were no occupants in the building when firefighters arrived.
City police said they weren’t certain what started the blaze.
The fire appeared to cause little damage to the building. Police obtained a search warrant, then began sifting through the equipment inside, working late into the evening.
“We found chemicals and apparatus consistent with drug manufacturing, probably methamphetamine,” Sgt. Doug Auldridge said.
Police had made no arrests in connection with the alleged lab Sunday.
