Unocal Subsidiary Awarded Oil Spill Response Contract

BREA — Emergency Response Strike Team, a subsidiary of Unocal Corp., said Wednesday that it has been awarded a one-year contract to manage oil spill responses for Maritime Overseas Corp. in New York and Kent Line of New Brunswick in Canada. The two companies have a total of 45 tankers, including medium-sized and large carriers.
Emergency Response, which was incorporated in May 1995, offers 24-hour crisis management of oil spills, chemical leaks and other accidents or natural disasters. The company also does training and consulting to help companies understand their risks.
