A fire engulfed a dry cleaner in Simi Valley on Wednesday morning, destroying all of the business’s equipment and causing an estimated $185,000 in damages, said a spokeswoman with the Ventura County Fire Department.
Viva Cleaners, in a strip mall at 2464 Stearns St., was engulfed by fire at 7:04 a.m. shortly after the owners had opened the facility, officials said.
The fire, which was contained within 30 minutes, destroyed equipment, with an estimated value of $100,000, officials said. It also ruined the interior of the building, causing an estimated $80,000 in damage, officials said.
Although people were in the facility, no one was injured and the fire did not spread to adjacent businesses. The Ventura County Fire Department used 18 firefighters, one firetruck and two engines to contain the fire.
The cause of the fire was unknown and an investigation was continuing.
