2 Men Arrested in Stabbing at Club
Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Oxnard men Monday in connection with a stabbing incident at a Thousand Oaks nightclub, authorities said.
Noe Ortiz, 18, and Carlos Rios, 23, were booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of felony battery and assault with a deadly weapon, deputies said.
The stabbing victim, Anthony Burney, 20, of Port Hueneme was treated and released from Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks on Monday.
Deputies were called to the Stargate Nightclub on West Hillcrest Drive just past midnight Monday morning after Burney’s stabbing. Burney was attacked by several men as he exited the restroom, deputies said. He was hit over the head with a bottle and stabbed four times in the back.
Several other fights broke out at the nightclub’s crowded “teen night” weekly promotion, deputies said.
“We have had problems in the past with the club’s teen night,” Det. Joe Braga said.
“When you mix youngsters, adults and alcohol, you run into trouble. It’s a volatile mix.”
