Northridge : Sen. Boxer to Tour Quake-Ravaged School
U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer will tour Nobel Middle School in Northridge today to assess lingering damage from the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
On the second anniversary of the quake, Boxer, Los Angeles Unified School District board President Mark Slavkin and Leland Wilson, a Federal Emergency Management Agency official, will be led by Principal Rita Davis on a quick tour of the school’s facilities.
Abby Cook, a media representative from Boxer’s office, said the senator will examine quake-ravaged and newly renovated buildings on the campus.
And at a news conference scheduled later, Boxer will discuss funding to repair ceilings and light fixtures also damaged in the quake.
