Algie Is Chosen as Interim City Manager
A former Long Beach finance official has been hired as interim city manager in Los Alamitos.
James A. Algie, 64, was selected to succeed departing City Manager Robert C. Dunek while the city seeks a permanent replacement. Dunek is leaving to become city manager in Lake Forest.
Algie, a resident of Long Beach, headed that city’s finance management department for 12 years before retiring in 1994. He won praise from Hawthorne officials after serving as that city’s interim manager for three months in 1994, Los Alamitos officials said.
He was selected for the interim job through the League of California Cities’ Public Service Skills Inc., a clearinghouse for placing retired experts such as city managers, fire and police chiefs in temporary positions.
