Caterpillar Wins Contract in Russia: The Peoria, Ill.-based company, in its first major contract with a Russian bus manufacturer, said it will supply 500 diesel engines to Likinski Avtobusny Zavod. Financial terms were not disclosed. It is the largest engine order ever placed with a Western engine manufacturer by a Russian bus builder, Caterpillar Inc. said. Buses are a major means of public transportation throughout Russia. The 3,116 engines, rated at 230 horsepower, will be built at Caterpillar’s plant in Gosselies, Belgium. Delivery of the engines will begin later this month and continue through the first quarter of this year.
