Magnolia, Senior
Basketball/Guard
Picchi surpassed the 1,000-point mark last week, but more importantly made almost each one count. Tuesday, she scored 34 points with 19 rebounds and helped the Sentinels beat Western, 57-52, in overtime. Picchi made 13 of 14 free throws in the second half and overtime. Thursday, she had 16 points and 15 rebounds and the winning basket in a 34-33 victory over Valencia. Trailing by one in the waning seconds, Magnolia set up a play for Picchi inside, but she couldn’t get open because of a double-team. She came out near the free-throw line, caught a pass, turned and made a 14-footer.
