Whittier Christian, Senior
Basketball/Guard
Smith, hampered by a finger injury on his shooting hand since December, has recovered nicely for the Olympic League season. Last week was a case in point. Tuesday, Smith tied his school record by making eight three-point shots, including five in the fourth quarter, scoring 31 points to help the Heralds beat Ontario Christian, 63-53. Friday, he scored 36 points in a 72-69 overtime victory over Brethren Christian. Trailing by four with 14 seconds left in regulation, he made two free throws and then made a steal and a layup with 12 seconds left to tie it. In overtime, he made a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to win the game.
