Boeing to Lead Team Seeking FAA Contract: Reversing an earlier decision, regulators agreed to let Seattle-based Boeing Co. head a group of companies seeking a $1-billion contract to modernize air traffic control software and workstations at about 200 facilities near airports. Boeing, the world’s largest jetliner manufacturer, is making a push into the market for air traffic control equipment. Boeing executives say an earlier decision from the FAA frustrated this campaign. The FAA told Boeing it could not bid as prime contractor for the work because, the company says, it was not listed as a “qualified FAA supplier.” Boeing contested that decision and eventually persuaded the FAA to reverse it. The FAA also decided that the entire Boeing-led team met all criteria to bid on the contract.
