Hal Riney Executives Quit to Form Ad Agency: Managing director John Yost, creative director Steve Stone and planning director Mark Barden are forming Black Rocket with ex-Goodby, Silverstein & Partners copywriter Bob Kerstetter. The defections are the latest in a string of resignations from the legendary San Francisco agency known for its work on Saturn car campaigns, and it comes as the agency stands to lose the First Interstate Bancorp account because of the bank’s pending merger with Wells Fargo & Co. Among executives to have left recently is creative director Joe O’Neil, who joined the New York agency Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer.
