Heritage Christian Upsets Rolling Hills, 52-51
J.R. Williams scored 16 points, with four three-pointers, 15 rebounds and eight assists as Heritage Christian upset Palos Verdes Rolling Hills Prep, 52-51, Tuesday night. The loss was Rolling Hills’ first at home in three years.
Williams scored 11 of his 16 points in the third, sparking a 23-point quarter, to put Heritage Christian ahead for good. The victory gives Heritage Christian (13-8, 8-3) the season sweep over Rolling Hills (8-2 in league).
Jim Findlater scored 16 points and Jared Zielinski had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Heritage Christian.
In another Express League game:
Huntington Beach Claremont 54, Bethel Baptist 52--Ryan Cronkite had 20 points and 34 rebounds to lead Claremont (12-7, 6-5). Steve Singhal scored 14 points and Randy Miller had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
In the Academy League:
Capistrano Valley Christian 66, Fairmont 39--Andrew Jennings scored 27 points and James Williams had 19 for Capistrano Valley Christian (14-6, 7-0). Aman Bhasin led Fairmont (4-13, 0-7) with 15 points.
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 55, Cerritos Valley Christian 50--Brian Sappington scored 19 points and had 13 rebounds for Orange Lutheran (9-11, 5-2). Teammate Ben Willits had 10 points.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Calvary Chapel 9, Riverside Bethel Christian 0--Chad Meserve and Josh Miller each scored three goals for Calvary Chapel (10-6-3).
In Sea View League wrestling:
Irvine 65, Woodbridge 9--Irvine sophomore Chris Rush, who was wrestling up from his normal 135-pound weight class, upset Woodbridge’s Sam Lahidji with a technical fall in the 140-pound match. Chris’ brother, Alan (145), pinned Matt Kemp in 5 minutes 2 seconds. Seventh-ranked Irvine finished 5-0 in league.
