Furon Buys Fluorglas Unit; No Layoffs Seen
LAGUNA NIGUEL — Furon Co., a manufacturer of plastic components, said it completed the purchase of AlliedSignal Inc.’s Fluorglas unit for about $19 million in cash.
Furon said it was buying the New York-based maker of Teflon products, tape and laminates to help expand its customer base in the aerospace and electronics industries.
Furon, which makes polymer products for aircraft, automobile and computer manufacturers, employs about 2,200 people and will take on 200 workers from Fluorglas. No layoffs are planned for either company.
