‘Whale Celebration’ Scheduled for Sunday
Ventura Harbor Village has rescheduled its rained-out “Whale Celebration” from Jan. 21 to this Sunday--weather permitting, of course.
The event celebrates the migration of Pacific gray whales through the northern Channel Islands as they swim to and from Alaska and Baja California.
The “Whale Celebration” includes educational displays by 10 environmental groups and government agencies, including Channel Islands National Park, the Marine Mammal Center and the Los Angeles chapter of the American Cetacean Society.
Other attractions and activities include a marine touch tank, petting zoo, pony rides, an environmental magic show by Tickle the Clown, and Floe, a 40-foot inflatable whale.
The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. along the promenade and on Carousel Lawn on Spinnaker Drive.
