Senior Phil Belin, a 6-foot-5 guard, is averaging a team-high 15 points for Peninsula, which upset Long Beach Poly, 38-34, in the first round of the Southern Section Division I-AA basketball playoffs last Friday. Belin, who scored 1,320 on the SAT and has a 3.86 grade-point average, will play basketball at Princeton next season.
