Walz to Attend Georgetown
Corona del Mar quarterback Josh Walz has orally committed to attend Georgetown next year, where he will play Division I-AA football, he said Wednesday.
Walz, a Times all-county second-team selection, chose Georgetown for several reasons.
“I’ll get a great education, a chance to play right away, and also have a chance at quarterback,” he said. “I also like the Washington, D.C., area and they have a great business school.”
Walz, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior, passed for 1,442 yards and ran for 781, leading the Sea Kings to the Southern Section semifinals. He also played defensive back.

Randy Rossi has been hired as assistant athletic director at Irvine High, Athletic Director Rick Curtis announced.
Rossi will remain head coach for boys’ and girls’ cross-country and an assistant in track and field.
