HUNTINGTON BEACH — A local man was killed Friday night when he lost control of the 1985 Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding and crashed while getting on the San Diego Freeway.
A California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said that Richard De Castillia, 38, died at the scene. The cause of death was not available, but the spokeswoman said it did not appear he was wearing an approved safety helmet.
The fatal accident occurred about 11:15 p.m. when De Castillia was on the Beach Boulevard onramp to the southbound freeway. Investigators are not sure why he lost control of his motorcycle, which struck a concrete divider separating the onramp from the freeway lanes.
