Winger Cobi Jones, a starter for the United States in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and 1994 World Cup, agreed Thursday to a multiyear contract with Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy.

Jones, a former UCLA All-American from Westlake Village, was signed by Coventry City in England’s Premier League after the World Cup and played there for two seasons before joining Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian League.

Galaxy General Manager Danny Villanueva said he was “delighted” to sign Jones, who will arrive from Brazil today and be introduced to fans with the rest of the team at a “Meet the Galaxy” day at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
