The Cincinnati Reds suffered their fourth serious injury of spring training when outfielder Eric Anthony landed hard on his right shoulder while making a catch, possibly separating it.
Anthony, who bats and throws left-handed, remained on the ground for several minutes after catching Chris Gomez’s fly to right field in the sixth inning of a 5-3 loss to Detroit.
He left the game and got an ice pack on the shoulder. He was expected to have X-rays and an examination later Saturday.
The Reds also have lost catcher Damon Berryhill (elbow surgery), outfielder Thomas Howard (broken wrist) and closer Jeff Brantley (broken foot) in the last month.
