Firm’s Income Dips

YORBA LINDA — Unit Instruments Inc. posted lower net income in the third quarter while sales climbed 33%.
The manufacturer of equipment for the semiconductor industry reported net income of $1.5 million, or 34 cents a share, for the quarter ended March 2. That compares with profit of $1.6 million, or 38 cents a share, for the like period a year ago, which included a $909,000 gain from disposing of some operations, and $373,000 income from discontinued operations. Sales rose to $17.2 million from $12.9 million.
For the nine-month period, net income was $5.4 million, or $1.21 a share, compared with $2.5 million, or 58 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales rose 46% to $47.8 million from $32.7 million.
