Gunman Jumps Into Taxicab and Robs Driver of $178
COSTA MESA — A gunman pointed a .38-caliber revolver at a cabdriver early Saturday morning and escaped with $178, police said.
According to a police report, the unidentified cabby was stopped at 19th Street and Placentia Avenue at 4:45 a.m. waiting for the traffic light to change when the robber jumped in the car.
Police said the bandit took out a pistol and demanded money. The driver handed over the cash and the gunman sprinted away. There were no shots fired and the cabby was not hurt.
