A Welcome Change From Sticks and Balls

Well, what a relief. The Times has discovered NASCAR [April 30].

You stick-and-ball guys have failed your readership for what may now be four decades. The failure has been your affection for sports many of your reporters may have not succeeded personally at and their denial that auto racing represents the largest fan base of any organized sporting endeavor.

The loyalty of the auto racing fan has been documented, yet you choose not to serve our needs. We often feel betrayed by your paper and others like it. You flat ignore our interest in the sport, yet you happily pander to the great fan followings in horse racing, Clippers basketball and soccer.

I have a suggestion. Let’s have daily auto racing coverage and a weekly column about the Dodgers. That would be a great sports page.
