Trader Joe’s Broadens Recall of Fake Crab: The South Pasadena-based market chain said more batches had been contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause illness and even death. The company sold the Trader Joe’s Surimi Imitation Crab at its stores in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. It previously recalled packages carrying the code 60402. The Food and Drug Administration later found contaminated packages with other codes, Trader Joe’s spokeswoman Pat St. John said. The chain is now recalling all packages regardless of code, and urged customers to return them for a refund.
