Thank you for making the best editorial choice of the year: the May 26 special report on the Saint Joseph Ballet.
The story and photos moved my heart and mind in ways that surprised me. Compassion, outrage, sadness, delight, hope, amazement tumbled around together and came out feeling a lot like gratitude.
Gratitude for Beth Burns, the ballet’s director; for writer Rebecca Trounson and photographer Gail Fisher; for the children of Santa Ana who struggle and dance to survive; and to The Times for recognizing the power in this story and dedicating the resources to tell it.
