** 1/2 Brian Setzer Orchestra, “Guitar Slinger,” Interscope. The Stray Cats’ good looks and whiskey voice scats and sways to his customized hybrid of bebop, jump blues and big-band swing. Setzer and his 17-piece orchestra resurrect “Town Without Pity,” but this disc tips the scales with originals--all exquisitely produced by top-notch dial-tweaker Phil Ramone. Setzer’s historical props, while nostalgic, still zing with his unbridled enthusiasm.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
