CHP Plans Sobriety Checkpoint Today
The California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Santa Paula Police Department, intends to conduct a sobriety checkpoint this evening.
The exact location of the checkpoint will not be announced until just before the operation begins.
This is the first sobriety checkpoint the CHP has conducted with the Santa Paula department this year.
The purpose of the checkpoints, Officer Dave Cockrill said, is to “raise public awareness” about the dangers of drinking and driving.
“Pulling out drunk drivers is really the secondary issue,” Cockrill said.
