Today Last Chance for Hikes in Preserve
Today is the last day until October that hikers can explore the Jim Dilley Preserve in Laguna Canyon.
The preserve is open every third Saturday from October through June and closes during summer.
Hikers can choose between two nature trails, one including a stroll along the county’s largest natural lake.
There are no facilities at the preserve, and bicycles and dogs are not permitted.
The preserve, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is on the east side of Laguna Canyon Road, just north of the San Joaquin Hills toll road construction site. The parking lot is next to the construction site.
Docent-led hikes in Laurel and Emerald canyons across the street will continue throughout the summer. Reservations are required for these more strenuous tours, which last three or six hours.
To reserve a walking tour, call (714) 854-7108. For mountain bike and equestrian tours, call (714) 832-7478.
