Kris Benson and relievers Jim Parque and Ryan Brannan shut out Australia, 7-0, in exhibition baseball in Millington, Tenn., as the U.S. national team picked up its 28th consecutive victory. . . . William Spacy II of Fairborn, Ohio, defeated Cassidy Kovanda of Lincoln, Neb., 15-12, to win the men’s Division I epee title in the U.S. Fencing Association’s national championships in Cincinnati. . . . Imad Baba’s goal just before halftime gave the U.S. under-23 men’s soccer team the lead for good in a 3-2 exhibition victory over the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer in Ohio to move to 8-5-10 overall. Brian Maisonneuve and Robert Warzycha scored the other two U.S. goals.
