Good Time but Wrong Place
On the whole I thought Victoria Looseleaf’s review of the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company was a balanced one (“Lewitzky Presents Four Familiar Favorites,” May 21).
I don’t think most of the audience, however, would much appreciate her condescending reference to the repertory as “a quartet of all-too-familiar favorites.”
To those unsophisticated folks who had to pay for their tickets, the works in question were clearly not familiar. Then again, perhaps we are referring to different concerts, since Ms. Looseleaf saw the Lewitzky company “on the Cal State L.A. campus,” while the rest of the audience was at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at Cal State Long Beach!
