Ventura police are looking for a man in his late 20s who stole a woman’s purse at gunpoint Thursday in east Ventura.
The robbery occurred on Telegraph Road at Glen Ellen Drive, two blocks east of Buenaventura Mall.
Police Sgt. Bryan Roberts said the 20-year-old victim was walking west on Telegraph Road about noon when she approached a 5-foot, 5-inch tall Latino man, about 27 years old, with dark hair and average weight, who was sitting on a brick wall.
The man demanded the woman’s purse, Roberts said. He then lifted his shirt, pointed to a handgun in his waistband and again demanded the woman hand over the purse.
After threatening to shoot the woman, he took the purse and left, walking north on Glen Ellen Drive, Roberts said.
The victim, who was not harmed, called police from a nearby store.
