5 Steps Forward, Then a Big Step Back
After a five-game winning streak pulled the JetHawks within two games of a playoff spot, they lost, 13-3, to the San Bernardino Stampede on Sunday at the Hangar, falling three games back with seven to play.
The JetHawks (32-31 in the second half, 68-65 overall) lost a game in the wild-card race because the Lake Elsinore Storm beat the Stockton Ports, 16-6.
The JetHawks’ final regular season home game was disappointing for many of the 5,213 fans from the start, when San Bernardino bolted to a 7-1 lead, knocking Marino Santana (8-15) out after just 1 1/3 innings.
Pitchers Kevin Pincavitch and Kris Foster held the JetHawks to just two hits, though they walked eight. The JetHawks didn’t have a runner in scoring position after the fifth inning.
