A hit-and-run driver was being sought Thursday in the wake of a fatal accident in which a woman was struck by two vehicles as she tried to cross a Studio City street, police said.
Sandi T. Loeffler, 39, a transient, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 4900 block of Coldwater Canyon Avenue, said Officer Jennifer Shelby of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Loeffler was crossing the street in the middle of the block when she was struck by a light-brown, two-door sport utility vehicle with a soft top, Shelby said. A second vehicle ran over the woman moments later, while she was lying in the road.
The driver of the second car stopped, but the sport utility vehicle left the scene, police said.
