‘Naked’
This unnerving 1993 British film won several critics awards, notably best director for Mike Leigh and best actor for the searing performance of David Thewlis (pictured) as its sour protagonist. Johnny is a refugee from Manchester who’s fled to London in a stolen car after committing a rape. He is a vicious misogynist who verbally assaults anyone within striking distance. “Naked” is a record of Johnny’s two hellish nights on the bitter streets (Cinemax early Friday at 3:05 a.m.).
