Dogs on the Loose Concern Council

Some of the city’s parks and walking trails have gone to the dogs, Councilwoman Eva Miner Bradford says.
Many residents have complained to her about dogs not being on leashes, especially on the Edison right-of-way walking trail, Bradford said at Tuesday night’s City Council session.
“Elderly people are terrified about these huge dogs running loose,” she said. “I think we should have some enforcement.”
City Manager Daniel E. Keen said the city has a leash law, as well as a regulation requiring owners to clean up after their pets. He said the city staff will look into the problem.
Councilman Kenneth Blake said the problem may be that visitors do not know La Palma has leash and cleanup laws regarding dogs. “A lot of people who use the [park and trail] facilities don’t live in the city,” he said.
