Zukowski to Push Slow-Growth Ticket
Former Thousand Oaks Councilwoman Jaime Zukowski, who resigned earlier this year to move to Colorado, is hoping to use her clout in the Conejo Valley to help elect the two candidates she endorsed: Linda Parks and Dan Del Campo.
Zukowski has flown into town for the weekend to campaign on behalf of the slow-growth council hopefuls, and plans to talk with every supermarket shopper and soccer mom she sees.
“Every little bit helps,” Zukowski said. “This is the last weekend of a very important race, and I think these two candidates are the right ones for Thousand Oaks. This is very important to me.”
She will be making appearances with Parks and Del Campo throughout the day, including a 7:30 a.m. stop at the Conejo Creek Park soccer fields and a 10:30 a.m. break at Starbucks Coffee on Moorpark Road, according to a news release. Voters are encouraged to attend.
“I’m very happy about it,” said Joy Meade, Parks’ campaign manager. “It shows that you just don’t move away and stop caring about a place. She’s fully behind Linda and Dan, and she thinks they’re what this town needs.”
In particular, Zukowski will hand out fliers on the Parks and Del Campo “Pledge to Thousand Oaks Residents,” a series of campaign promises, and talking to voters about the importance of electing both candidates.
Zukowski and Councilwoman Elois Zeanah were the minority on the five-member City Council. Both believe slow-growth politicians have to win both seats in Tuesday’s election and seize the majority to bring about change.
