The noontime fire, whipped by Santa Ana winds, was confined to a ridgeline above South Mountain Road.
Firefighters from Santa Paula, Fillmore and Ventura County as well as U.S. Forest Service hand crews extinguished the blaze with the help of two helicopters.
There were no injuries, and no structures were damaged.
The cause remains under investigation.
