In another Olympic League game:
Cerritos Valley Christian 30, Calvary Chapel 27 (OT)--Calvary Chapel came within 33 seconds of its first victory of the season before a Cerritos Valley Christian field goal sent the game into overtime at Westminster High.
Mark Garciano rushed for 202 yards and scored four touchdowns, including the game winner in overtime, for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders (5-3, 2-1), down, 24-21, with 2 minutes 4 seconds left in regulation, drove 47 yards in slightly more than a minute to tie the score on a 35-yard field goal by Chris Petteys.
In overtime, the Eagles (0-7-1, 0-3) were stopped on three plays and forced to kick a field goal. On the Crusaders’ second down, quarterback Kirk Saarloos ran for nine yards putting the ball on the one. Garciano scored from there to give the Crusaders the victory.
The Eagles opened what seemed to be a comfortable 24-0 lead midway through the second quarter. But the Crusaders scored a touchdown before the half on a 25-yard run by Garciano.
After the second-half kickoff, Valley Christian took only three plays to pull within 24-14. Garciano ran 43 yards for a touchdown.
The Crusaders pulled within three on the final play of the third quarter when Garciano scored from 15 yards.
