Colletto Resigns as Purdue Coach
Jim Colletto, unable to turn around a program that has not had a winning season since 1984, resigned as Purdue’s coach.

Boston College has appointed an internal committee to investigate allegations that some of the school’s football players bet on college football games, possibly including their own.
Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk said there is no evidence of any game-fixing or point-shaving, but the Boston Globe quoted unidentified sources as saying that five or six players were involved, betting against the Eagles on more than one occasion.
Lawyers for four of the players said their clients never bet on their own games.

Florida State quarterback Thad Busby sustained a hairline fracture of the left wrist in a 49-3 victory at Georgia Tech and could sit out Saturday’s game against Wake Forest. . . . Former high school player of the year Tim Couch is considering transferring from Kentucky, possibly to Tennessee, Florida or Ohio State. . . . Center Harvey Pennypacker, a Syracuse co-captain accused of attacking a man in a barroom, was suspended for one game.
