Receivers Get Shaken Up
UCLA shuffled receivers, moving Jim McElroy from split end to flanker and putting Eric Scott into the starting lineup at split end. Senior Derek Ayers, the only Bruin who has caught a pass in every game, was dropped behind McElroy at flanker.
The moves were made because of passes dropped both in games and practices by Ayers, although no UCLA receiver has been exempt from missing throws.
“I know I’m happy to get in, but not necessarily the way it happened,” said Scott, a junior.
Through eight games, Scott has five receptions for 66 yards. McElroy has 15 for 200 yards. Ayers has 16 for 234 yards and a touchdown.
