Offense Relying Too Much on Shaq
They did it last season before Magic Johnson returned, they did it last season after Johnson returned, so why should it be any different with this season and this player?
The ball goes in to Shaquille O’Neal and the Lakers stand around, turning the offense even more stagnant, all the way to where they are averaging only 90.1 points the first four games.
“You start watching great players and forget what you’re supposed to do,” guard Eddie Jones said.
Coach Del Harris has urged them to move without the ball and O’Neal says he likes the chance to flash some passing skills in this offense, as opposed to Orlando, where he went to the post and waited for the ball to come in. But a common Laker malady continues anyway.
“We need to start cutting a lot more,” Jones said. “Shaq can pass. If we move more, maybe we can get more layups.”
