Tornado in Georgia Kills 7-Year-Old Girl
ATLANTA — A 7-year-old girl was killed and at least 16 people were injured Friday when tornadoes and severe thunderstorms swept through Georgia, officials said.
The girl was killed when a tornado touched down near Chester and strong winds lifted the family’s mobile home. Her parents and two other children were injured, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency said.
An agency spokesman said there was “extensive damage” to nine businesses in a Cleveland, Ga., shopping center. Twelve people suffered minor injuries from an apparent tornado in north Georgia.
