Cooperative Goodwill

Re “Case Clothed,” Oct. 25.

I read an article in the Valley section of The Times about a deal made, apparently between the Los Angeles city attorney’s office and the victimized clothing manufacturers. In my opinion, this should have been in the front-page headlines as an example of what city officials can do in cooperation with private enterprise. I sincerely appreciate their actions and hope others hear of this and follow their lead. It truly helps the needy in this city and does not lessen the profits of these companies, as the truly needy could not have afforded to purchase these brands, even if they wanted to.

Often these acts of goodwill and generosity seem to occur mostly during the holiday season. If more people follow their lead throughout the year, everyone will benefit. I wish The Times had published a complete list of the companies that cooperated with the city attorney’s office in this matter, so that I and others could support their generosity and selflessness by considering the purchase of their products when shopping during the holiday season and throughout the year.
